Hungary Visa Schengen

Hungary is one of 28 other countries that are Visa Schengen states. This means when you apply for a Schengen visa to Sweden, you will be allowed to travel to another member state. 

As a United Arab Emirates passport holder, you would not need to apply for a Schengen visa to be able to travel to Hungary from Dubai in 2025. This will apply for short stays up to 90 days within 180 days period and for leisure or other tourism related. Even though you have the  access for visa-free entry, it's better to prepare documents such as round trip flights and booking accommodation proof by the point of the entry.

Schengen Visa Type

After knowing whether you need to apply for a visa or not, you need to know the type of visa that you need to apply based on the purpose of your visit.

Tourist visa

Schengen Visa from Dubai Requirements Documents

A number of requirements must be fulfilled before you may get your visa. When completing your visa application, make sure to attach all essential documents.

Visa Application Form

You must complete out the application and make sure you have the correct information, in order to prevent having your visa denied.

Passport

You must provide copies of your current and previous passports for the last seven years. Your existing passport should be valid for at least three months after your visa expires and have at least two blank pages for stamping. You must also provide copies of all used passport pages.

Copy of Emirates ID

A copy of your Emirates ID card and make sure your residence id should be at least 3 months valid from the time you leave the Hungary or other Schengen area. 

Photo
You need to prepare your photo that complies with the International Civil Organization (ICAO) requirements.

• Must be taken within recent 6 months
• Photo size is 35x45mm and should capture a close up of your head and top of your shoulders
• The photo should be taken in color with white or plain light and colored background, make sure it has appropriate brightness and contrast.
• Ensure the contours of your face show clearly and that your eyes and other face features are not obstructed.
• Look directly at the camera and avoid sunglasses, tinted glasses or colored contact lenses. Your eyes need to be completely visible. 
• You should have a neutral face expression with closed mouth and clearly visible opened eyes. Grinning or raising eyebrows is not allowed.
• No head coverings are permitted in your Schengen visa photo, unless used for religious reasons.

Cover Letter:

The letter should specify your trip schedule in detail as well as the reason for your visit to Hungary.

Travel Insurance

You must have travel health insurance that covers medical emergencies for up to 30,000 Euros that are valid for Hungary and other Schengen countries.

Flight Itinerary

You must submit documentation of booked roundtrip flight tickets with exact entry and departure dates from the Schengen zone.

Proof of Accommodation

Document of accommodation proves during the stay in Hungary whether it’s a hotel reservation or a relative or friend hosting you.

Proof of Finances

You need to provide that you have sufficient funds to cover your expenses during the trip. This can usually be done by documents such as a three month bank statement. Another options is pay slips or a letter from the employer, that shown prove you can afford your stay in Sweden and the Schengen zone.

Civil Status Documents

Submit the document as evidence of your civil status is birth certificate, divorce papers or a marriage license.

4. If one parent has custody of the kid submit Family court authorization
5. NOC Letter from both parents if the child is traveling alone.

How to Apply for a Schengen Visa from Dubai?

Complete Online Application Form 

Complete the online application form from the website of the Swedish Embassy or the visa application center (VFS Global).

Schedule An Appointment

You can book an appointment at the VFS Global office in Dubai or Abu Dhabi.

Submitting application and biometric data

You will submit the application form, supporting documents, and provide your biometric data (fingerprints and photograph) on the appointment date.

Pay the Schengen Visa Fee

As of early 2025, the fee for adults is typically around €90 (approximately AED 365), however this possibly changes.

Visa Application Processing

Its working time usually takes around 15 days. The processing time may also take longer depending on the applicant case, even up to 45 days. It's best to apply your visa application at least 1 month before your intended travel dates to avoid inconveniences.

Collect Your Visa

You will typically receive a notification from VFS Global (via SMS and/or email) when your passport is ready for collection. You can usually track the progress of your visa application online using the tracking ID provided by VFS Global. Wait for notification from VFS Global and then collect your passport and visa, (if approved) from the VFS Global center in Dubai where you applied.
